Why 90-Minute Sessions?

EMDR was originally designed to be offered in 90-minute sessions, and there's a good reason for that. Longer sessions create more room for the work — and for you.

In a standard 55-minute session, it can sometimes feel like we've only just gotten into something when it's time to wrap up. An 90-minute session gives us the space to go deeper into processing without feeling rushed, and — just as importantly — more time to settle and transition out before you return to your day.

This can be especially valuable if you:

  • Often feel like sessions go by too quickly

  • Are coming to sessions directly from work or other demands and need time to arrive and decompress before diving in

  • Want more time to transition back out before returning to daily life

  • Are in an active phase of EMDR reprocessing and want to move through material more fully in a single sitting

Insurance typically covers up to 60 minutes of therapy, so extended sessions are offered as a self-pay option. For many participants, the added time is worth it — not just for the depth of the work, but for how they feel walking out the door.

Insurance

I am currently in-network with Harvard Pilgrim Health Care.

  • Please note: I am listed with Harvard Pilgrim under my legal name, Genevieve Derr. If you’re verifying coverage or searching for me in your insurance portal, please use that name.

For all other insurance plans, I am an out-of-network provider. I am able to submit claims directly to your insurance on your behalf — your insurance will then reimburse you directly for any allowed amount based on your out-of-network benefits.

To find out what you may be reimbursed, I'd encourage you to call the member number on your insurance card and ask about your out-of-network mental health benefits before we meet.
